Kindergarten Technology

The Kindergarten students have started exploring Clifford's Learning Activities from Scholastic. The game comprises nine multilevel logic, math and reading puzzles. A magazine is looking for some dogs to feature in their next issue, and Clifford, T-Bone and Cleo want to make a big impression. So they go about Birdwell Island helping their neighbors, earning scrapbook pictures for each completed activity.

Fourth Grade Technology

Fourth Grade students embarked on the animation section of their Technology curriculum. As an introduction to the basic concepts of the topic they made a short pivot animation. You can download Pivot for free if you want ot see why they enjoyed it so much! http://pivotanimator.net/

Kite Flying Fun~!!

This week at Art, our children had fun making kites with paper, tape, wooden skewer, and streamers. After making kites, we tested our creations outside .
It worked! and we had so much fun~!

Spelling Word Searches

As a little light relief from testing week, students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade created word searches of next week's spelling words using the ABCYa website. Word searches are a fun way for all the family to get involved in spelling practice. You can find a link to the site we used at http://www.mrsmorlidge.com/Technology.htm

Skittles in Technology!

Fourth Grade students have been learning how to organize data using Excel spreadsheets for the last few weeks. This week, in their final assignment, they used Excel to analyze a portion of Skittles. They had to create a pie chart, find what percentage of each color they had and calculate the mean, mode and median.

Keyboarding at CHA

Our students begin formal keyboarding at CHA about half way through First Grade. As well as learning a skill that will be useful as they move up through the school, we find it helps them in other ways by practising their word recognition and spelling. This week Mikio became the first Third Grader to finish Type to Learn 3. Middle Schoolers Rowan and Cameron also recently completed Type to Learn 4. Watch this space as I am hoping to be able to announce that, for the first time in the history of keyboarding at CHA, a Second Grader will also complete Type to Learn 3 before the end of the year!

Third Grade Naturalists at it AGAIN!

Third graders found many exciting plants and creatures this week behind the field. We continue to observe nature as a naturalist, knowing that "observing is not disturbing."

Ritika and Eleanor are captivated by the sights and sounds!

The Middle School students are making progress with their web pages. They are using Expression Web to make pages about either the Revolutionary War or Body Systems. In this photo two students are particularly happy that a technical problem that had been bugging them is finally resolved!
