Nothing beats a good drum break. Kindergarten students are pictured left, with their costumes from book week. 5th grade to the right.
I haven't posted many pics from musical rehearsals. I guess...nothing beats a good ole' fashion surprise! See you next week at KPC!

PE
This week in PE our K-2nd grade classes were able to take advantage of the sunshine, get outside and get introduced to softball! We worked on throwing and catching the softball with a partner, along with fielding ground balls and pop-flies. Our 3rd-5th grade classes continued with their bowling games, which we've almost completed. I've been very impressed by our students' ability to keep score of their own game! Have an awesome weekend CHA!

The WIld Flowers--1st Art
First, we drew stems and grasse with different colors of green oil pastel on black paper.
LOVE how their art turned out!
PE
Bowling, bowling, bowling. Just a subtle hint as to what we played in PE this week! All of our students worked on using the proper bowling technique at a variety of pin formations. Also, our 3rd-5th graders began keeping score of their own bowling games in groups of 4-5 people. It's been awesome to watch the students' approach to bowling evolve right before us. Below is a snapshot during a friendly game between one of the 1st grade classes. Have a great weekend CHA!

Cloud Describing Maps in 4th grade
Fourth graders finished up their Cloud Describing maps three weeks ago and completed a conversation circle asking each other "Como eres?"(What are you like?).

Read Across America Week
Thanks to CHA's Student Council, the students have enjoyed many activities focusing around "Read Across America Week." In Library, students had the opportunity to hear books written by Dr. Seuss and vote on their favorite out of 9 popular titles. The Lorax was the clear winner, followed by How the Grinch Stole Christmas, then Yertle the Turtle. Results are posted outside the Library door.
We also discussed the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award given each year for the best children's book for beginning readers. This year's winner was The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli. The students enjoy hearing these books, regardless of their age. They make wonderful read-aloud books too!
